Spiritual and Transpersonal Support

Orientation to the process

Therapeutic Infuences

While Courtney’s work is always grounded in research, traditional psychotherapeutic, and evidence based clinical practice, she also emphasise the human centred and relational aspects of therapeutic interactions. Courtney operates on the premise that your entire body is intelligent and has its’ own systems of knowing, enquiry, and language for you to observe, engage, and come into relation with. She maintains intentional practices, professional relationships, and development activities that exist continuously behind the scenes to support and weave throughout this therapeutic function.

The way Courtney formulates is multidimensional and takes shape over the course of a project or treatment episode. She is a student of life and draws inspiration from a continuous process of self directed learning, professional development, and experiences with the following:

  • Self and Identity

  • Mentalisation and metacognition

  • Gestalt

  • Existential

  • Psychodynamic and object relations

  • Polyvagal theory and co-regulation

  • Narrative therapy

  • Somatic experiencing, regulation, and integration

  • Acceptance and values

  • Cognitive and Emotion based theories

  • Depth psychology

  • Attachment theory and psychoanalysis

  • Distress tolerance

  • Curiosity and reflective functioning

  • Mindfulness

  • Psychophysiology and homeostasis.

  • Theory of mind

  • Non ordinary states of consciousness

  • Psychoeducation

These concepts are weaved throughout consultations as relevant to each individuals’ presentation or client project needs. This is outlined specifically for the purpose of demonstrating varying degrees of literacy across a diverse range of subject matter. This is becoming increasingly relevant to clients who are seeking exploration of specific personal wisdom and attribute relevance to what the practitioner is aware of. Courtney am a devotee to self directed study and has capacity to hold conversations that tolerate wider inclusions.

If the above are unknown or incomplete concepts, do not be discouraged, Courtney’s gift lies within translation of broader concepts into the language and evidence base of psychology in a tailored, ethical, and grounded manner.

Prior Considerations

— The processes Courtney facilitates often requires sustained commitment for a period of time and thus spaciousness in time, energetic, and financial resources is desirable, and more importantly, alongside a thirst for depth topics. Following a period of establishing a sound therapeutic alliance, accessing sessions on a needs basis can be arranged without issue.

— However, if you are in need of a critical dose of therapeutic care or intervention, and are currently navigating socio-economic, health, geographical, or political factors that you feel may exclude you from accessing this type of care, be encouraged to get touch as we can discuss ways to alleviate barriers to access, based on your unique circumstances.

— Clients arrive to therapy with a range of diverse needs. Sometimes Courtney’s role forms around becoming a therapeutic ally and advocate during a sensitive time or period of developmental transition. She facilitate a process of grounding and reorientation, safe habitat for clients to be held and learn to hold themselves when cultural or familial structures around them are not able to provide support.

— Monitor any expectations that may arise within you. Engaging with this work won’t alleviate the entirety of your suffering. Individual differences occur, meaning that your response to treatment is unique to you, like a fingerprint. It is very likely that you will generate an emotional response/s within the therapeutic conversations, you will be introduced gently to broader perceptual frameworks, you will be supported to generate your own answers and insights in collaboration, and you will likely experience some discomfort about self/aspects of life that may be difficult to come into contact with. Courtney is a compassionate witness and mediator with informed clinical knowledge and experiential insights. This sacred role facilitates a vessel for you to find and face the answers you generate in relation to your own life. You will receive individualised support and be attended to deeply throughout your process.
